Kanoe Baby Hammock

The Kanoe baby hammock, made under fair working conditions in India from 100% organic cotton, gently rocks your baby to sleep.

The specialised spring hanging assembly is designed to provide a gentle, 3-dimensional swaying and bouncing motion. This rocking motion cradles your baby in a safe, comforting environment. It  bounces and sways in response to your baby’s movement, similar to being rocked back to sleep by a parent whenever the baby stirs.

The following is the manufacturer's description of how the Kanoe works:

Adjustable straps extend above the hammock and attach to the bottom ring of the specialized spring assembly. The entire assembly attaches to an eye ring bolt which can be screwed into any solid structure, such as a ceiling joist or beam. These can be safely detected with the use of an inexpensive stud sensor available from most hardware stores. The Kanoe can be relocated anywhere around the home by simply unhooking it from one eye ring bolt and hooking it to one that has been installed elsewhere.

All the straps are adjustable for ceiling height and can be set to create a tilt for babies with reflux or colic.

As children get older, the spring can be removed and the Kanoe lowered so that it hangs just above the ground. They can then climb safely in and out, using the hammock as a comforting place to sit and play.

The Kanoe is quick and easy to transport, rolling up in to a bag made of the same fabric. A second eye ring bolt and detailed installation instructions come with every Kanoe.

There is no need for a mattress in the Kanoe - it is better for the baby to lie in the hammock, letting it support the baby's natural body shape just as if the baby were being rocked in your arms. Your baby can simply be swaddled or wrapped and put in the Kanoe hammock. Older babies might be more comfortable in a baby sleeping bag, which means there is no need for sheets or blankets in the Kanoe.

The Kanoe hammock measures 92cm long by 41cm wide, and should be hung with 71cm clearance from walls or other furniture around it. It can be hung from the ceiling on a hook, or from a hammock chair stand (such as this one). Once your baby is big enough to climb out of the hammock, the hammock should be lowered to hang very close to the ground so they can get in and out safely.

The Kanoe hammock can be machine washed in cold water on a gentle cycle - make sure the wooden support rods are removed before washing. It can also be rolled up and placed in its space-saving carry bag to take on holidays. Easy to move around the house, so baby can sleep in their hammock in whatever room you are working in during the day.
