I recently had the privilege of being a mei tai tester for Kristi. Can't wait for full-scale production to start so I can stock these!

The one I tested had a gorgeous Amy Butler feature panel with black straps. The blanket (body) has three layers - so you can reverse the carrier without having the reinforced stitching show through. Very clever. I also liked the pleating where the shoulder straps meet the blanket.

The straps were a bit too long, but not a problem. My friend Kate (maker of Wild Slings ring slings) showed me how to twist the straps under baby's bottom before tying the knot. It added a bit of extra support, especially for getting baby into a back carry.

Kristi is finalising the pattern with plans for the mei tais to be made by the women at Daughters Cambodia. This organisation trains and supports young Cambodian women so that they can earn an income outside the sex industry - definitely an organisation I want to support!
