Brindabella Baby is the first Australian retailer of the Baby Kompowe mei tai, made by Daughters of Cambodia. I was a product tester for these mei tais not so long ago. It's great to see them finally in production, and providing young Cambodian women with an alternative income source. Making these mei tais is also enjoyable - they choose which colour fabrics to work with, and embroider the front pocket if they feel so inclined.
Suitable for newborns to pre-schoolers, these mei tais are great value and beautifully made. Each shipment of mei tais will be a different selection.
These cotton mei tais have a body that measures approximately 39cm from the top of the waist band to the top of the shoulders. There is a 9cm high waist strap below the mei tai body, and a 7cm sleep hood above the shoulders. The sleep hood supports baby's neck if they fall asleep in the mei tai - especially handy when an older baby or toddler is on your back where you can't see them.
There is a 14cm by 17cm pocket on the front of the mei tai - handy for car keys or wallet on those quick shopping trips.
The 163cm long shoulder straps have some pleating where they join the mei tai body, which helps the straps to sit neatly over the shoulders. The waist straps are approximately 125cm long on each side.
