Choconana Cake

This is a great recipe for school fête baking, as it makes two cakes in under 45 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 2tsp vanilla essence
  • 50g butter
  • Splash of vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 180C. Grease and line two round cake pans. Melt the butter in the microwave. Put butter and all the other ingredients except chocolate and vege oil in a large food processor and whizz til combined. Melt chocolate in microwave on low heat, stirring regularly so it doesn't burn. Add the vege oil to the chocolate and mix well. The vege oil keeps the chocolate from completely hardening in the finished cake. Pour half the batter from the food processor into each of the two cake pans. Swirl the melted chocolate into the cake batter with a spatula to create a marbled effect. Bake approximately 30 minutes till a skewer inserted in the cake centre comes out clean.
