Bumwear is a nappy company based in Singapore. Their products include one-size and petite pocket nappies, training pants or side-snap pocket nappies, nappy covers, wetbags, mattress protectors, and clothing for babies to adults.

The fabric used in many Bumwear products is hand printed using traditional batik techniques at their family friendly workplace in Bali, preserving a traditional Indonesian craft and enabling mums to work without having to stop breastfeeding.

Sewing is done by work-at-home-mums in Singapore. They are paid a fair hourly rate for about 2-3 hours of work per day. This is a great way for mums to earn a little extra income without taking time away from their children.

Bumwear One-Size Pocket Nappies

For the full colour range, click here. These nappies fit from 5kg til toilet training, and can be as absorbent as you like. They come with a microfibre insert for absorbency, but additional absorbency can be added as there is plenty of room in the pocket area.

Unlike most pocket nappies, the Bumwear design features a frill around the leg hole that helps contain any minor "explosions" (you know what I mean...).

The snap fastening at the front folds down to create a smaller rise for little babies, and is easy to master for carers who are used to disposable nappies. Unlike velcro fastening nappies, there is nothing to catch lint in the washing machine. The fleece inner wicks moisture away from baby's skin and into the absorbent insert, reducing nappy rash. The outer layer is polyester with a polyurethane laminate (PUL) which means it does not need a separate waterproof cover.

No need to soak. Just give them a pre-wash rinse in cold water (with nappy sanitiser if you're so inclined, though it's not necessary). Then wash in hot water with your normal detergent. Line drying takes only a few minutes once you've pulled the inserts out of the washed nappies, although you can tumble dry on the cool setting without damage to the PUL in the nappy.

Bumwear Covers

These waterproof covers with velcro closure fit over a terry square, prefold nappy, or fitted nappy needing a separate cover (like the Mandy Mac). Made from PUL, they will survive a trip to the tumble dryer, but will line dry in minutes on a sunny day. The inside gusset helps prevent leg-hole leaks, especially important when using the cover over a pad-folded prefold without pins or Snappi to fasten it.

Sized to fit perfectly:

• Size X-Small - 2-4kg.
• Size Small - 3.5-7kg.
• Size Medium - 7-14kg.
• Size Large - 12-16kg.

Bumwear Training Pants or Side Snap Nappies

Made from the same quality materials as the Bumwear nappies, these are a pull-up design to suit toilet training or EC'ing, or for older children who still need absorbency at night. With side snaps to make removal easy for #2 accidents, and a generously sized pocket to stuff them as absorbent as you need. Each pant comes with one microfibre insert.

Sized to fit perfectly:

• Size Small - fits 1-2 year olds. Waist 34-43cm; Leg hole 18-26cm; Rise 21cm.
• Size Medium - fits 3-4 year olds. Waist 40-50cm; Leg hole 24-34cm; Rise 23cm.
• Size Large - fits 5-6 year olds. Waist 46-56cm; Leg hole 28-38cm; Rise 25cm.
• Size X-Large - fits 6-7 year olds. Waist 52-62cm; Leg hole 32-42cm; Rise 27cm.

These pants can also be used as side-snapping pocket nappies. Using the microfibre insert that comes with the pant, they will be just as absorbent as the Bumwear one-size pocket nappy. Size X-Large comes with two inserts. Add more inserts for extra absorbency at night - our bamboo boosters work wonderfully, or you can use anything else that absorbs moisture (eg tea towel, hand towel, terry cloth nappy, cotton prefold nappy).

Care instructions are the same as the Bumwear one-size pocket nappies.

Wetbags

Bumwear wetbags are made from the same PUL as the nappies and training pants, for a coordinated look. Each bag holds 4 to 6 wet nappies, with a zip opening at the top. The bags have a gussetted bottom to stand up all by themselves when holding nappies. The snaps at the top of the bag make it easy to attach to the handle of your pram or bag, or to attach two wetbags to each other. This means you can have one bag of clean nappies, and another holding the wet nappies. Great for childcare or babysitting visits, and a reusable alternative to plastic bags for dirty nappies.

Hats

These reversible unisex hats will fit from around 9 months (or maybe 6 months for bigger babies) to 6 years old. Just turn the brim up or down to suit. One side is a batik print, the other is solid colour with a single batik-printed motif on the brim. A cute look in summer when matched with Bumwear nappies or training pants and a singlet or t-shirt.
