Surviving the meltdown

Everywhere I look in the media this week, there's talk of the global economic crisis. I guess only time will tell whether it's a blip or the next Great Depression. Kind of strange, it's also Anti-Poverty Week from 12-18 October 2008.

Huge two week sale

The Great Cloth Nappy Hunt may be over, but the bargains are getting even better. As the day progresses, I'll continue to reduce the prices on everything in stock at Brindabella Baby, and will also add more clearance stock to the Brindabella Baby Ozebaby Outlet. With postage reduced to $6 for orders anywhere in Australia and New Zealand, this is a great time to get all those things you've been eyeing off.

Last week to find that icon!

It's almost the end of September, which means almost out of time to find the hidden icon for the Great Cloth Nappy Hunt! It's pretty easy to find. But if you still need a clue, it's a product that comes in colours you won't find anywhere but here :)

Should men be in the room at birth?

It seems like a no-brainer: of course the father will be in the room when the baby is born! But some, including internationally respected obstetrician and waterbirth pioneer Michael Odent, say that "women should be left alone to give birth in peace without the distraction of their partner at their bedside".

Did you know it's National Organising Week?

Truly, it is! September 8-14 is National Organising Week. And if you visit A Good Sort to sign up for their monthly e-newsletter, you could win an organising pack valued at $50. Actually, looking around my desk, I think I need these ladies to come and organise my house... actually, if I lived in Sydney, I could go to one of their Organising Workshops - something a bit different to the usual party plan parties :)

And the Hunt begins!

It's on again - the Great Cloth Nappy Hunt! It's free, it's fun, and there are thousands of dollars worth of prizes up for grabs!

Toilet Training Made Easy

Juliet was just a baby when I started Brindabella Baby. Now, at two and half years old, she's a toddler who speaks in sentences and wants "two more minutes" before bedtime. And she's toilet training... a long and difficult phase compared to her big sister, perhaps because Juliet is so determined to do her own thing and I'm busier than I was when Sophia was toilet training.

Some tips that make it easier:

Want to learn how to carry baby on your back?

Most mums know the benefits of baby carriers for hands-free baby holding. But you can do so much more if your baby is carried on your back - leaving both arms free to wash dishes, hang out clothes, cook without baby being in reach of the stove, or chase the older kids.

Choosing a nappy system

"So what's the best cloth nappy system?" is a question I'm often asked. And there's no easy answer. Each nappy brand has a slightly different fit, and each style has differences in convenience, absorbency, and fashion. Some are more eco-friendly in their use of materials, or you might prefer to support a work-at-home mum or fair trade program.
